REPRESENTATION
Representation isn't about adding diversity to an image - it's about expanding our understanding of who gets to be seen. These projects celebrate people across ages, abilities, identities, and backgrounds, challenging the narrow standards that have historically defined fashion and commercial photography. Everyone deserves to see themselves reflected in the stories we tell.
ReImagining Venus
Some of history's most celebrated works of art have also reflected its narrow definitions of beauty.
Inspired by Botticelli's The Birth of Venus, this editorial reimagined an iconic image through a contemporary lens, replacing a single, idealized vision of femininity with people of different races, ages, gender identities, and lived experiences. The project asked a simple question: what if our cultural icons reflected the diversity of the people who admire them?
Feel Free To Stare: Disability & Fashion for YDY
When disability is portrayed without disabled people, representation becomes performance.
Created for You Do You in collaboration with Tony Award-winning actor Ali Stroker, this editorial reimagined the controversial Interview Magazine photo shoot featuring Kylie Jenner in a wheelchair. Rather than using a wheelchair as a fashion prop, the project centered the lived experience, agency, beauty, and sexuality of a wheelchair user, demonstrating what authentic disability representation can look like. The editorial became part of the broader conversation surrounding authentic disability representation in fashion and entertainment, demonstrating how the same creative concept could take on entirely different meaning when centered on lived experience rather than performance.
SAGE X YDY
Fashion often celebrates youth as though style has an expiration date.
This You Do You editorial partnered with members of SAGE to create contemporary fashion portraits that celebrated individuality, confidence, and lifelong self-expression. The series challenged assumptions about aging while honoring LGBTQ+ elders whose lives and advocacy helped transform the community we know today.
